2012 "Tasty Little Devils"
Recipe Contest

This contest could very well be the most EGG-citing of all the Stafford Agricultural Competitons, because let’s face it – who doesn’t love Deviled Eggs? Every southerner has the best recipe and they all want to crow about it. Whether filled with the traditional egg yolk and mayo combo or something more trendy, the sky’s the limit when it comes to presentation, flavor, ethnicity and even color. The possibilities are endless so we’re expecting Stafford’s clever cooks (the best in the nation) to come up with some really special creations to prove why these 'Tasty Little Devils' are the most popular on a buffet table!


Prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winnners!

The top three winners are eligible to compete in the
State Finals at the State Fair of Virginia – Sept. 29th, 2012

Prizes at State Level
1st - $375 plus a year’s supply of Eggland’s Best Eggs
2nd - $250 plus 6 months’ supply of Eggland’s Best Eggs
3rd - $125 plus 6 months’ supply of Eggland’s Best Eggs

Rules/Recipe Requirements:

  • The recipe must include a minimum of six eggs and reflect a stuffed egg in some way. 
  • Ingredients must be listed in the order of use. 
  • Directions, cooking time, temperature and servings must be included.
  • If special toppings are used, they must be included. 
  • Recipes will become the property of the Virginia Egg Council.
  • Recipes will be presented for judging at the Stafford County Hartwood Days Festival.
  • Open to any individual who is a Virginia resident; one entry per person. Participant does not have to reside in county where fair is held. Participants are eligible to participate in ONE contest one time.
  • Entrant must prepare a recipe that would be considered to be deviled eggs although presentation may vary (i.e., they can be baked into a casserole after preparation; they can be filled in alternate manners; filling ingredients may be varied in any way entrant desires, etc.).
  • Entry may be presented in/on any type of container for judging. Since deviled eggs should not be left out of room temperature for longer than two hours, winning recipes will not be left for display purposes and entries and their containers will need to be picked up by contestants.
  • Recipe must list ingredients in order of use;preparation instructions; and cooking time and temperatures must be included. Go to www.incredibleegg.org for proper hard-boiled egg cooking instructions. Written recipe must be printed on one side of page and must be submitted with prepared entry. Back side of page must include contestant’s name, address, phone and email address and the name of the item. 
  • Contestants must fill in a Participant Release Form, to be attached to recipe.
  • This is an adult competition, there is no youth division. (Youth may participate, but will be competing with adults)

Flavor
Creativity
Texture 
Appearance 
Recipe requirements filled
Appropriateness of Ingredients for recipe
